Council on Local Relations · Think and Act Locally · Unrivaled Marketing Solutions

How it fits

Three parts work as one system. One keeps the record. One is where people act on it. One pays for the work. The Council’s seats sit in the middle.

Three overlapping circles: the record, the people and the engine, with the Council’s seats where all three meet.

The record

The Council on Local Relations keeps the public record of a place: what local government decides, spends and owes, and the measurable floor people live on (food, water, energy, shelter, health, safety and work). Software does much of the gathering and checking. Every figure carries its source, and every correction is published.

The people

Think and Act Locally is where people act in the place they live: the town’s Herald, the Civic Calendar, community and the local directory. It holds what a record can’t: belonging, and everything people build above the floor.

The engine

Unrivaled Marketing Solutions is the commercial side. It works with local businesses and with the operators who run each town, through services such as Glass, and that work pays for and distributes the record and the Herald.

The rule that keeps it honest

UMS pays for the record, so UMS can never touch it. The Council’s Charter says no part of this system pays for, buys or steers the record. Our clients get the same record as everyone else, and Think and Act Locally’s directory says which businesses we work with. Read the Charter →

The seats in the middle

The Council is a set of seats. Each one keeps part of the record on CLR, and each one has a door for people on TAAL. See the seats and where you come in →
